Linking the image of the Russian language with vivid images of figures of philological science and culture is of great importance in providing support for the Russian language and Russian culture abroad, in shaping positive ideas of foreign citizens about Russia, Russian science, and Russian education. As a rule, acquaintance of foreigners with Russian culture begins with such names as Pushkin, Lermontov, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Dostoevsky and some others. At the same time, there are dozens of figures of science and culture, writers and poets, less known abroad, but who have made a significant contribution to world science and culture. A feature of the proposed educational course is its focus on the popularization of the Russian language through acquaintance with the achievements of prominent figures of science and culture, whose names are associated with the Russian province, the Penza Territory: M. Yu. Lermontov, A. I. Kuprin, F. I. Buslaev , V. O. Klyuchevsky, V. E. Meyerhold. The particular interest of modern researchers in the problems of adaptation of foreign citizens is associated with the constant increase in the number of young people who want to study abroad. Despite the fact that the practice of teaching students abroad has existed for several centuries, it has become the subject of scientific knowledge relatively recently. An analysis of the conceptual foundations for studying the process of adaptation of foreign youth made it possible to identify a number of factors complicating this process: • national characteristics of representatives of the host and native cultures (cultural distance); • social problems (peculiarities of accommodation, nutrition, medical care, financial difficulties, etc.); • psycho-emotional problems (stress, loneliness, depression, anxiety, nostalgia, etc.); • lack of a social support system and adaptation programs for foreign students. Also, the studied results of the research make it possible to determine the main areas of activity for the adaptation of foreign youth, which is of some practical value and allows you to more consciously and purposefully design the social and educational environment of society: • informational direction (providing information on various issues); • psychological direction (ensuring the harmonization of the internal and external conditions of the individual's activity and the new socio-cultural environment); • socio-cultural direction (acquaintance of foreign students with the culture, traditions, history and values of the host country) is implemented as part of the project activities. The purpose of the course "Guide for Foreign Youth" is to promote the successful adaptation and socialization of foreign citizens, stimulate interethnic and intercultural communication among young people, search for new ways to ensure the social and psychological comfort of this interaction. The target audience is foreign citizens aged 18 to 25 who wish to continue their studies at Russian universities.

Mikhail Lermontov was raised by his grandmother after his mother’s death. The young nobleman became a military man and went to the Caucasus. When the guides talk about their hero, their eyes mist over, and it is clear that he is almost a relative for them. The researchers have studied the folklore of the village, interviewed old-timers and came up with master classes in ancient crafts, reconstructed the rituals that Mikhail Lermontov saw, for example, “Tarkhany wedding”, “How they studied in old times”.
Here you can see how kokurki, Tarkhany pretzels, are baked in the Russian oven. However, the special delight of the guests is the grinding of bread at the real 120-year-old mill. To experience the holiday in full, you worth taking part in the theatrical performance “Charm of the Past Days”, where you can walk in a solemn polonaise, dance a mazurka and a waltz as a dance of all lovers.
